Sunday brunch in Austin could not be better than this. We ordered our food and drinks at the counter and found a table. Unpretentious and comfortable in a unique and exquisite dining room. With vintage decor this is the perfect sunday morning stop. Our food was excellent and well prepared perfect on every level.

The Driskill never fails to impress, especially the 1886 Cafe & Bakery. My friends and family had brunch there on a Saturday during SXSW. We parked across the street at Littlefield Garage and walked to the cafe. Since they don’t accept reservations and we had a party of nine, we simply ordered at the counter and sat in the seating area just outside the cafe. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. I absolutely adore this place and its unique decor and rich history. Want to impress someone? This is the place to do it.

Lovely atmosphere inside with a nice format that seems to shorten the wait. We arrived at peak brunch time and we didn’t have to wait too long, both for a table and our food.
The huevos rancheros were very good with crunchy tortilla and ripe avocado. They came with well cooked eggs and refried beans. The bagel and lox was very good with fresh, quality toppings and a great amount of salmon. The oatmeal was good, but pretty standard.
Their banana bread was outstanding! Definitely one of the highlights of the meal.
Great location downtown and I would definitely come back, either for breakfast again, or for lunch!

Came by for brunch for my sister’s birthday. It was honestly a mid experience for all the good reviews. Line was pretty long and I waited for about 30-45 minutes before I was able to order my food. You order drinks and then your food at the counter, and then you take your drinks back to a table with you (you are not seated and have to find seats yourself). Food took some time to arrive due to the long line (20-25 mins or so) and it was nothing that really amazed me/special. Seems like your usual brunch spot with some Texas-Style brunch items. Atmosphere would have been nicer with the more historic culture behind it, but it was just too busy for the atmosphere to feel cosy.

We searched for the Texas shaped waffle everywhere on our trip and finally found it here! We were worried you need reservations but you do not. It was so delicious. Atmosphere is great. Service is so friendly and quick even though it seems like it gets busy.

Beautiful space to go along with excellent food and service. You stand in line to order then find a seat-ample seating inside and in the adjacent hotel lobby space. Had the chicken & waffles which was outstanding. Polite, kind and professional people who work here. Will dine here again!
