I had a question re: a recent payment. I spoke with a gentleman named James in customer service. He was very helpful and even called me with a follow up to let me know everything was good re: my account. Kudos to James and Amica. I have always had positive experiences with Amica and hope James gets a star for his great customer service.

I have had Amica for my homeowners insurance for about 20 years and they have been stellar. I frequently tell people that until you make a claim, an insurance company is just a bill collector so unless they are bad at taking your money every month, you have nothing to complain about! I have made two claims on my homeowner's insurance and both times they have been incredibly fast, no arguments about where/how I got things replaced, and paid instantly. By contrast, I had state farm car insurance years ago and they told me to take my car anywhere I wanted for repair, but when I took it to the dealership, they refused to pay half the bill because they felt like the body shop charged too much per hour for labor and I got stuck paying a very expensive bill (because the dealership wanted their money and didn't care that the insurance co was refusing to pay and they threatened to send it to a collection agency if I didn't pay). I hope never to have to make a claim again but if I do, I want Amica to be my insurer!

I found Amica over a dozen yrs ago, when fed up with AAA. they were then a small and very personable group of female agents, located only in N. Cal and Nevada. They helped me for each claim, for burglary or car a incident, with outstanding abs compassionate attention, not the aloof service of a big national company.. Now, they still cost more and the agents in 21 states (!) offer impersonal attention and apologies, as with any large company. I will be switching to another company with better rates now. If I not going to receive superiority customer service, I might as well save money!!

Truly a one sided relationship. I found their customer service to be immensely slow and unresponsive from their side, but have no allotment of time for me to respond. Very unreasonable with their requests to start coverage and terrible at communication when they changed things on their end. They also made claims annoying enough it was not worth the trouble. I do not write reviews usually, but felt i needed to save others months of getting strung along starting their service

My experience with Amica were all fine until I needed to file a claim, now a lack of communication and long response times has become a lawsuit. I have been with Amica since 2003, they are very good at accepting payment but drop the ball on customer service when actually needed.

I am pleased with Amica, had them about 3 years, evertime I have talked with them, they were all extremely friendly and helpful.
I've never had a claim, so I can't speak on that. Unfortunately when I got a new car, I shopped around for quotes with the exact same coverage and found that I couldn't afford them. The price difference was huge, I pay yearly, so I really saw the difference. I ended up bundling 3 cars, home and umbrella elsewhere and saved thousands. Even when I called to cancel my policy, the lady I spoke with was so extremely nice, quick and helpful.
I will definitely call to get a quote from them again down the road to see if their prices are more comfortable for us. I'd be fine with paying a little more for the stellar service, but not thousands.
This is with excellent credit, no tickets and no at fault accidents ever in my life.

Yet another joke of an insurance company. After numerous horrible experiences with another terrible auto insurance company, I did research (I did not actually look here) and it seemed like Amica could be a reasonably good provider and with a clean DMV record, the quote that I got from them was very affordable. I signed up but they told me I have to wait 30 days for the plan to go into affect. Apparently that is the new way with many companies, maybe just in California Anyhow, after submitting more paperwork and photos and back and forth with them for weeks, on the very last day, numerous times the agent was interrogating me with silly ongoing questions like, 'there is an indication of CMML on your registration, what does that mean?'. What do you think it means, do you not deal with these transactions daily Yes it means commercial... The car I have which is currently in PNO (planned non-operation) and I am only getting collision/theft coverage on happens to be a hatchback Honda with commercial plates... No other insurance company has ever asked any questions about this... Make a long story short, just as I was trying to make a payment to start the policy at the end of that last day, the agent tells me, 'Sorry sir, our underwriters can not start the policy for you because this is a commercial vehicle.'. You could not figure that out a month ago when I provided you with the registration and did the application They are insurance people, yet another industry that in many ways is bankrupting our society; this is likely the way they need to behave so they can feel like they have a psychological edge on the public and in control by rejecting people based on their own incompetence. Pretentious and lame mostly. On to the next...

Like others have mentioned, you get what you pay for. I've used Amica for my auto insurance since I began driving, they've serviced my renters insurance and soon to be my house. They've always done good by me and are reasonable and fair.

My car has been hit and run three times and Amica has always been there to help me out and get my car back on the road. When my wife's parked car was hit and totaled, Amica had people out immediately to get our car appraised, then towed, then a check cut to us so we could move on getting a new car.

Sure, it might be more than the companies you see advertising on TV, but they've done right by my family who's used them for years, and they've always done right by me.

Thanks Amica!
