We choose M&R Plumbing and Heating to fit our new boiler because we wanted a local company that we could deal with face to face and have confidence that the advice prior to fitting and the finished job would suit what we required. Also that the installation would be completed on time and to an excellent standard and post fitting any questions or concerns we had would be dealt with effectively, all within a competitive price.
That is exactly what we received. All the way through the home visit to advise on what system we needed through to the completed installation it could not have gone smoother.

M&R kept us updated at every stage of the boiler fitting and system reinstatement, effectively managed a few questions and post fitting queries we had and were very professional at all times.

The completed job is fantastic and we’ve noticed a significant positive difference with the new boiler, we would highly recommend M&R Plumbing & Heating without hesitation, fantastic reliable company to use.

Great job installing new combi boiler by Jack and Connor! Moved into my home approx 7 months ago and knew I needed to get a new boiler asap as old one was about 20 years old!!! Booked last week and they came today to install! Jack explained everything to me (in simple terms for someone who has never bled a radiator!!!), and they both left the place tidy once done.
Few hours in and already can tell the difference.

Ive been a loyal customer to M & R for annual boiler services for some years now at my previous property. Fortunately i have never needed an emergency call out, which speaks volumes of the quality of service they provide given my boiler was over 15 years old. However two weeks ago we moved into a property that had a leaking radiator valve. On the evening of 23rd December 2024, my brother in law drained the system and changed the valve. When starting the boiler back up it failed to ignite and no matter how many attempts it was locked out. Dreading the fact of having no water or heating over Christmas I called M&R Plumbing Christmas Eve morning. I didn't have much hope given it was Christmas Eve. When I called and explained the situation, the receptionist said they were fully booked but she will see if there was any possibility to shift some appointments to squeeze me in as she didn’t want us without heating and hot water over Christmas. Sure enough 20 minutes later, I received a call to tell me that they could come and look at my boiler. Less than 20 minutes later Michael, the owner of the company was at my door diagnosing the fault. Within the hour my boiler was fixed and I had hot water & heating again. I will be forever grateful and loyal to M&R Plumbing and Michael himself. The fact the owner of the company came to my property, on Christmas Eve as he was due to finish to ensure my young family have heating & hot water over Christmas is something I will never forget. I will always be a M&R customer, as my new properties boiler is a system boiler and is 20 years old, I will 100% be requesting the services of Michael & his amazing team to replace this with a combo boiler in 2025. Thank you to all at M&R Plumbing for going above and beyond to make sure my families first Christmas in our new home was perfect. You really are a credit to the industry.

Engineer sorted our leak on boiler quickly and communicated to me about the parts required. Came within the given time slot. We did have a slight issue with the invoice but this was rectified promptly when we emailed the office. Good communication.

On a plan with this company. Once again, they have been quick, efficient, helpful and friendly and considerate throughout. My only gripe is that twice now, I have asked for new valves and been told it was on the system. However, the follow through is a bit slow. Perhaps they have just forgotten. Overall, very good service.

M & R Plumbing & Heating Ltd fitted our boiler several years ago now and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism and standard of work. Since the boiler was fitted, I took out a maintenance contract with British Gas and every year they would comment on what a good job had been done by the firm that had fitted the boiler, namely M & R Plumbing & Heating Ltd.
After using British Gas for my maintenance contract and being let down on several occasions, I decided to cancel it and go with M & R Plumbing & Heating Ltd.
Today was the first time I have had my boiler serviced by M & R Plumbing & Heating Ltd and I can only say that I have been very impressed with the service to date. Gary the engineer was polite, courteous and very professional, he turned up on time and undertook the work in a timely manner, he was clean and tidy and provided me with an update after the service was completed.

On the whole M&R were generally good. I can’t rate 5* because there were a few things that bothered me during the process.

We needed a new boiler, flue and radiators which M&R supplied and fitted for a total of £4850.

The positives were that Mick the owner came over during an evening and measured up, and talked through everything and we agreed a price. He was very responsive and friendly and took time out during an evening to help us out quickly. The installers were all nice lads and worked hard.

The downsides were unfortunately a few things:

On the first day of install not all radiators were there due to damage from the supplier, not M&Rs fault but the radiators had not been checked before the day of install. This meant we had to wait until the next week for the rest of the radiators to be fitted, leaving us without heating. Secondly, the notes taken during the initial design got mixed up and we ended up with the wrong radiators in one room. This could have been avoided by a bit of common sense (a tiny radiator for an upstairs office was put in a larger kitchen, and no one rang to ask me if it was right). Thirdly, during the commissioning of the boiler the installers did not place any kind of water receptacles or things to catch any leaks, and we had a leak from an upstairs radiators which seeped through the ceiling before we could stop it. A bit of care would have avoided this, and on the day I was told that “it’s not our fitting that we’ve done, it’s the old part”, definitely true but in the moment that doesn’t really help with water coming through the ceiling.

Finally, in general, I’d asked for a quote to fix up some masonry left when they removed the fireplace, I think three times I asked, and I was told it needed to go via Mick. I never got an answer on it, so went with someone else to fix it, it seems like a lot runs through the owner and he’s obviously rushed off his feet. Similarly I’d asked for a further quote to supply and fit some Tado controller and valves, which I never got an answer on, for the same reason above. I’ve since got a quote and agreed with another firm to do that job.

All that being said I’m not unhappy with the work at all, it’s just that it’s a bit rough round the edges in places.
