Almond Acres is a great school if you are looking for a public school with a private school feel. We love the way each child is assessed annually and their learning style is celebrated and encouraged in all aspects of learning. In addition to great academics, there is a huge focus on life skills and growing leaders and great citizens. There is a focus on character building, social-emotional learning and problem solving. The administration makes a huge effort to teach the whole family unit, not just the student. We are so lucky to have this school in our community.

I am beyond thankful and grateful to not only teach at Almond Acres, but to have my son attend for the past 6 years!

I’m Dena Vertrees, and I have been teaching children at AACA since 2014. When I applied for the job, I knew I loved the philosophy of the school, but I didn’t realize that I had found my new home! The students, staff, and families are truly one big family!

My son also attends AACA, and I couldn’t be happier with what he has learned here! The areas that impress me the most are the leadership skills and character traits that are taught to all the students, beginning in Kindergarten. The students are taught that they are in charge of their own learning. They also learn to recognize their individual strengths, and how they can use those strengths to stretch their struggles. We are truly growing great kids at Almond Acres, and each day they are becoming GREAT citizens!

I’ve been in the education field for over 13 years, and I truly believe the way we teach at AACA is improving the lives of the students and their families, and far surpasses other schools!

We've had a fantastic experience with AACA. We've been there two years now and both of my children are excelling academically and socially. They are both at the top of their classes and have great circles of friends from awesome families. The staff are amazing. The teachers are engaged and love their jobs. They care deeply about my children and want to see them succeed in all aspects of their development. My child with a developmental disability has an incredible support system built into his school experience and he is soaring there. We are so grateful for this school. Not only are the academics strong, but the character development (something most public schools MIGHT mention now and then) is a huge part of the cirriculum and it weaves nicely into the lessons they teach throughout the day. We've been so happy with this school.

This school is amazing. I have 2 students at the school, a soon to be 7th grader and soon to be 3rd grader. Both have been at AACA from kindergarten. The school of course has had some struggles, but they continually try to improve, especially in the middle school. They have implemented so many interesting electives for the students including drama, computer programming, engineering, art, and many more. They also have a thriving sports program for all the students to participate in. Even though it’s a small school (which I love, as they are all under supervision) the kids get lockers and get to change teachers to prepare them for high school. This last year my son made huge academic strides in writing essays and math.
I have to say the kinder and 1st grade team of teachers is the best, they are so engaging and loving.
The office staff somehow knows each student and sees them for the amazing kids they are. Each student is taught to be the best version of themselves and taught the 7 habits of highly effective people. We have really taken the language they use at school and brought it home, we work together with the school to grow great kid’s.

I recommend Almond Acres Charter Academy to anyone who is looking for something new and refreshing in the way our children are taught in school. I love how this school uses the child’s whole body to learn (heart, mind, body, and soul), not just their mind and body. I also really appreciate that the character that we are trying to build in our children at home is echoed in the school. Our children are more successful when we are all on the same page. My kids are excelling academically and look forward to going to school each day. The biggest difference I see in this school from traditional schooling is how all the teachers and staff work together to create the best learning environment for everyone. It is such a synergistic environment! You really feel like you are part of the team when you walk on campus...and you are! That is the best! And my children deserve the best.

Our daughter has attended AACA since it's opening in 2012. She began in Kindergarten and has just completed 7th grade. The mission of the school is to Grow Great Kids and I experience this as I walk through campus and participate in school activities. There is a positive culture here that dignifies the uniqueness of each student and supports them in their strengths and their struggles. Students as young as Kindergarten learn about the brain and how they learn best. Personal character and habits of mind are taught alongside academics and good citizenship. Project-based learning brings a deep level to learning for students and the added service component helps them to experience the positive effect they can have in their own community.
Our daughter is an athlete and has been on every school team possible: cross-country, flag-football, volleyball, basketball, track & field, and ultimate frisbee. Leadership, Science Camp, Drama Productions, Art, Music and Destination Imagination are some of the enrichment and elective activities also offered at AACA. We are so thankful that our daughter has had the opportunity to to grow and learn and is always striving to be the best version of herself here at AACA! Thank you's go out to the entire AACA team of faculty, staff and families that make this school such a special place to Grow Great Kids!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Almond Acres. My first-grader is flourishing there. Not just academically, but also socially. This is a school which treats every child as an individual, and celebrates and encourages each one accordingly. I would recommend any parent who is interested in the school to take a tour, speak to the faculty, and meet some of the awesome Almond Acres kids! My youngest child is enrolled for the 20/21 school year, and I'm incredibly excited for her to begin her educational journey there.
