You can't beat the prices of the Recycled Reads Bookstore with any other thrift store in Austin! The entire store ranges from $0.25 to $2, including movies and board games! The store is setup and looks just like a library, and you'll find many old library books with their old barcodes in the shop. Some of the selection is older but it is fun to browse, and you never know what treasure you may find. The best part is that the inventory is always changing, so it's a great place to revisit!

This place is amazing! I was able to get 8 books (including a textbook) and a language learning disc set for $11. There is such a great variety of well loved books and media. If we lived here, I'd be a regular for sure. They also host a variety of clubs and things and have posters around for language learning classes and community events. If you haven't been, it's definitely worth checking out. Oh, and there is plenty of free parking too.

Love the concept and all the community resources available in English and Spanish. Makes reading accessible. All library systems need to replicate this model! Check out tools. Check out garden seeds and "return" them at the end of the season. Language practice, knitting trouble shooting, passport services,, and so much more. I could stay for hours browsing and buying!

Small store that's worth popping into every once and a while. Lots of craft/cook books. They have a mixture of recently published books and many beautiful old gems being removed from libraries, like old copies of classic lit. There are often activities going on; always a handful of people inside. I've found some fun things here and you can't beat the price. Don't go in looking for a specific title, obviously.

I thought I was going to a library, but it was a bookstore selling cycled out books. Many are in good shape. Many I was going to buy at the used books store just last week. Got the here instead for two dollars each.

They posted a book for sale onpango books I bought it had to change the address and when I was doing that they relisted the book for 30$ more and sold it out from under me. These art books were a way of me coping with my dad's death. This was awful caused me anxiety and caused me to be depressed all day. This was the last thing I needed was to be scammed by a book store.

It's with a very heavy heart that I say I will not donate to Recycle Reads anymore. Over the years I have given thousands of books from all of my parent's estates and I at least get a thank you from the appointment folks. This time I just had two bags of books, but they were spread out in three because the bags weren't full and when I dropped them off to the front desk all I got was a major chewing out from the only woman employee working that day (who was short with dark hair) on Friday, August 2, 2024.
The woman tells me I've brought too many books and I offer to leave with my books and she says no that won't be necessary but continues to tell me why I have violated their policy. I ask her if she'd like me to put it into two bags for her because the three bags were half full, and she said no and continues to tell me that I was a cheater in so many words. Then I asked for a receipt and she took care of the five people who were there after me before she would give me a receipt with a scowl. Is a thank you for giving people money/ valuables too much to give these days? They sell the books to make money for the library system and I can't even get a thank you, or if no thank you how about just treating me with some decency and some level of respect? Life in the new Austin is stressful enough without this so I'm done with Recycle Reads. Support them all you want because ultimately they help our library system but I don't need a dressing down for donating the allotted books allowed each day. Perhaps they need to clarify their policy and say how many books they will take and not bags. That is such a ridiculously arbitrary rule.
