Impossible to link your bank or transfer into Bangkok Bank using ACH or even using financial services like WISE. Why even have a NY branch if you plan to make transfers difficult or in my case impossible.

One word: "Don't" I opened a savings account when I lived in Chiang mai. They were supposed to send me a debit card but it never arrived and I left Thailand for the US. Now I have a passbook from 2011 with 43,000 Baht in it...or do I? (Yes I have the passbook, but no way to access it...) "No problem, sir go back to Chiang mai. Ok, I shall, but when I arrive I suspect that the money will be long gone? No answers to any inquiries.

No one answers the phone during bank hours. I have regularly transferred money from my Wells Fargo account in California to my Bangkok Bank account in Thailand over the last three years. For some reason they have not accepted the transfer now and there is no one to answer any questions about why. I will need to crawl up the food chain here in Thailand to find out why this is happening. The international customer service representative here in Thailand said that they have had over 100 complaints about this recently. Typical to Thailand customer service though no one seems to have any solutions to problems.

If you have opened a bank account in Thailand, they will tell you that they could not do anything here for you. You’ve to go back and do business in Thailand.
Seriously?
Ridiculous!!!
Next trip, I’d definitely close all accounts I have in Thailand. My mom already did.
I would definitely not recommend this bank to anyone.

As a US retiree, currently living in Thailand, I'm very happy this NY branch exists. Having a branch of my Thailand bank with a US routing number allows easy routing of my direct deposit retirement checks without me needing to do anything other than wait for the SMS that my paycheck has been deposited. If you think of this as a brick and mortar bank you can walk in to, you'll be disappointed. If you think of it as an easy and convenient way to route direct deposit checks from the US to Thailand, it is outstanding.

Do not under any circumstances use this bank. They are heavily Anti-Foreigner. Even something as simple as updating your email or phone number you are not allowed to do it online and if you go in person even if you are a long time customer with passport copy, drivers license, bankbook, bank card, and all old and new information etc., they still will refuse you. I am not going to give you my original passport just to update my email or phone #. That is completely unreasonable and you can F right off.

If I could give it a zero I would. There's one review here which says they opened an account for him but they must be speaking of a location in Thailand not this NYC "branch". The woman at the NYC location rushed me out and refused to answer any of my questions. She insisted that they provide no service for anyone including Thai nationals. If they do nothing here as she claims then what is the purpose of this physical location in NYC? Something is awry.

This is not an actual branch of the bank. The bank employee whom I spoke with was suspiciously vague and didn’t act politely like the ones in Thailand. She seemed unwilling to help and unmotivated to answer any questions. When I pressed her for information she gave me some info but it remains unclear as to what exactly they do here.

According to her:

They don’t provide any kind of service for anyone at this office. No opening, closing, transfers, loans, credit cards, or any other standard banking service.

They only “deal with” (her words) “business to business” amounts “greater than 1 million USD”. When I asked about this process, she explained that all paperwork, details, authorization, etc. must be completed and approved at the main branch in BKK. The process takes several months. I asked her what happens here on the NYC end once all of that is done. She provided no answers, deflected, and insisted that I go to ask in BKK (which I’ll be doing next week).

I’m not even sure why this office is here. I can only conclude that it’s some kind of physical location registered here to creat some legal loophole front for certain people to move very large sums internationally.
