CBD Bakery

We were in next building and we went here as it looks like gem. No frills simple bakery serving different pastries, cakes, but more importantly piping hot pies. We tried the traditional meat pie and the pepper steak ones. Between us we preferred the traditional ones. Prices were reasonable and coffee was great! Do come before lunch time as it can get quite packed during lunch.

I visited CBD Bakery at Bourke St for breakfast and coffee. The place is cozy and inviting. The coffee was excellent, and the breakfast options were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. Not crowded, perfect for a relaxed morning. Highly recommended!

We were visiting Melbourne and the husband was craving for pies but didn’t want to travel to the suburbs. Given the relatively high ratings we decided to visit this gem as it was near our hotel. review no. 71 of 2024 (19/6/24) CBD Bakery, Melbourne, Victoria Chicken & Leek pie $8.40 Checked out Melbourne's one and only bakery in the CBD district. The bakery has been there for about 30 years and Tony has been running it for the last 6 years. The second baker in a row that supports the baggers. The presentation of the pie looked nice, it did look a bit shallow though. The lid looked to be baked well, had a small amount of crunch when you bite into the pie and the sides and the base looked to be baked well also. Moving onto the filling the chicken tasted really fresh, nice bite sized pieces, coupled with gravy and leek it complimented each other well. The gravy tasted amazing and wasn't too rich. Had a nice creamy texture on the palate. Seasoned well. The consistency of the filling looked pretty stable. The serving temp was spot on and at a guess the pie would have held up together. This was a really nice tasting pie. It was the 3rd chicken and leek pie i've had so far and ten times better than a Herbert Adams chicken and leek pie ! The price is up there but well worth the price for a gourmet style pie. Coffee's are pretty decent too. Asked for the chicken and leek pie and the cutest chef at the counter said "this pie comes with a warning - it's highly addictive" He wasn't kidding!! I loved it so much - pie was piping hot, tasty, crust was crunchin', fillings were super tasty with just the right amount of balance with flavours - I will be back!!!! Also loved - cosy corner huddle (or window seat!) with newspapers to accompany your midday meal, or you can just peek out and watch the world go by. Speakers overhead blaring Santana's Smooth - can't ask for more ❤️

Stumbled upon this hidden gem when recently in Melbourne. It has everything you expect from a country bakery but right in the Melbourne city. Their vanilla slice is 5 stars

City lunch shop which always has great food. Prices are city prices and right on average. Very busy place but they are very quick to take orders and serve. Minimal waiting. Limited inside seating. Outside seating too

Thank you to Garry,Barista who served us with exceptional lovely manners so kind and courteous and helped us with two of our cake selections. They were delicious my husband and i went halves in a lemon tart and an Apple cake. The shop seemed very pleasant, happy staff.
