Parking in this area is tough to find. Had to come to renew a certificate and license which is overly complicated and can’t be done using any sort of technology. They rarely answer the phone. I did only go to one department so perhaps the rest of the building has important stuff, efficiently run by nice people, but the clerk we worked with complained about how slow their computer system is and was very rude and condescending to us. The security guard was polite but it’s hard to understand why security needs to be so tight at a building like this. The building is nice and has interesting pieces of art.

We walked over and entered from Court Street as the other entries are closed.

From the website as of September 28, 2020:
“Due to decreased public activity at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building, the Colfax Avenue entrance is now closed. The public must enter the building at the Court Street security screening station.”

The security staff were all super nice and friendly!! They even congratulated us when we left.

We arrived 15 minutes early to our marriage license appointment, but they will check you in/let you enter at your designated time. The clerk who ended up issuing our marriage license was absolutely perfect and more. We have nothing but great things to say about her; so much that I’d want to email her supervisor/manager to praise her for her service. She was that amazing!!

I received a citation for expired plates. (From TX we have a sticker on our windshields). Thought no big deal have gotten them in TX and as long as you have a sticker before your court date you don't pay it. I put in a dispute had photos that I received my sticker and that I was covered the day in question. But I got a letter in the mail saying "the court deemed the citation valid". This is a reason why no one wants to stay in the state. I say move to TX cheaper taxes and you don't have to deal with this injustice.

Unfortunately as a contractor I have to go to the Wellington Webb building to pull permits on a regular basis, with that being said no other city building department is as horrible to deal with as the Denver building department. Most cities offer online permits and want to make it easy on contractors to do their work, not Denver.

Parking is usually 12-15$ and meter parking is few and far between. Expect a long wait as most the permit workers are talking or joking around and not working as they should to make the long lines and wait disappear. Once the permit is obtained then you have to go to another line to pay. Wow unbelievable to think how horrible the Denver building department is.

I came here to clear a parking ticket I got for street sweeping. The sign said Friday, but they came Thursday instead. They looked up on the ticket the address the cop left which was 12 blocks away from where I parked. Anyway the “magistrate” basically told me to F off and here I am with a $50 fine I don’t deserve and a hated for the corruption that exists in this building. Aside from all that, the security guards who work at the front of the building where very kind and definitely deserve a raise because they probably have to deal with people angry at the “magistrates”

Very poor at response. 311 operators know nothing, and they do not transfer calls to people who do. Especially bad at providing transparency into the operations and management of taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects.
