If you care about your boat do not bring it to metal works!!

We dropped our boat off at metal works to have the transom redone. The boat had a brand new Suzuki 300 outboard motor previously installed. When we finally got the boat back it was a disaster. Incompetence is the only word to describe it. Not only was the transom not done properly, but our brand new motor with under 100 hours had all the cowls sanded and painted black and looked terrible. The motor was never supposed to be painted at all. They made a mistake and painted the wrong motor. Zack never replaced the cowlings and never made good on his word to paint them properly.

Now on to the transom. The transom and floor were not done properly and failed after 3 trips. See the pictures. Zack never took responsibility for any of these problems and still wanted full payment. We have since had the transom and floor redone properly by someone who knew what they were doing. Zack also still has my spray rails that he never installed and never returned to us. The whole experience was a nightmare. Disregard my review from years ago. This place is awful and so is the owner. Zack you have my number if you wanna talk about returning the spray rails.

We are Remodeling the Chic Fil a on Victory Blvd. The canopy extension and install had a tight time line and unfortunately the tops of the steel columns were manufactured wrong. Instead of stopping, taking them down and sending them back to Texas, We decided to go long and called Metal Works. Zack came out looked out it and returned with partner and they worked until 9:45 PM in the rain and took care of business. Professional and this kind of hard work and effort is hard to fine. Because they saved the day the canopy will be installed by the end of the week instead of in a couple of weeks. I Highly recommend Metal Works !

I contacted a couple of shops about having a helm box added to my cobia tower. Unlike other shops, Zach replied immediately and we set up a time to drop off the tower. I stopped by on a Thursday to drop off the tower. Zach gave me good advice on where he thought I could save money and where I should beef up the tower. The negotiated price was very reasonable and I ended up adding a seat and 2 rod holders.

On Thursday we settled on the project being complete by the following Tuesday. I was on a short timeline due to an upcoming deployment. Zach called me at noon the very next day to tell me the job was complete. I was very impressed.

The quality of the work looks very good and I’m very pleased with the job overall.

Unfortunately, I have to post this review. They made a tower for my boat. 2 weld broke after 2 uses. That was not the problem. I understand nothing is perfect. Zack said he would honor his welds and promised to repair the failed tower. After numerous messages and calls, he never delivered, but promised to reimburse me for my expenses to have another fabricator fix what broke. Not only did it break, but the design had major flaws. Zack again asked me to send the pictures, and invoice to him, which I did. He said he would send over the money because he would honor his word. After the first month of no reply. he gave me a line of excuses, after the second month it was more excuses and "the check is in the mail" , and now on month 4 he simply hasn't replied.
Go elsewhere, because there is nothing worse than a farbicator who won't honor his word, and who won't fix his sloppy work.
It isn't about a money thing with me at this point, its more important that when a man gives his word that he honor it.

My experience with Zack at metal works has been great. He is easy to work with, does clean work, and is reasonably priced. Any time I am in the area I will surely be a repeat customer!

Fantastic, friendly and speedy service! I had hit something with my boat and snapped off half the skegg in the process. A new lower unit would have cost me $1,200 + labor. Zach and his team not only fixed the skegg for a fraction of the price, it was done within 24 hours. Highly recommend this shop for boat metal repairs.

I called and asked these guys if they could fabricate some mounts for a grill guard I found on craigslist that was not built for the type of truck I had. I figured it would be awhile and called to set up an appointment. They told me to bring it in that evening so they could have a look at it to see what they could do. I ended up leaving my truck there that night. The next day they had finished mounting the grill guard onto my truck. I had intended on walking down from the coast guard training center to pick my it up, but they insisted on delivering it to me personally. 5 minutes later they met me at the base, I paid them next to nothing, and that was that. Very personable guys, very clean shop. Ready to make whatever you need. Probably one of the best experiences I've had with any business. Thanks guys.
