This is a lovely little shop owned and operated by Doug. He doesn't look like the kind of guy who would know wine, but Doug knows wine. He has an excellent selection of wines and knows all about them. He can give you tasting notes, pairing advice, info about the regions, and provide recommendations for any occasion. The price point is also really reasonable for the quality of wines he has. The cheapest I see in there is about $17, and the majority of wines are under $35. Most of his wines are unique and you won't easily find them elsewhere. They tend to be smaller vineyards with organic or regenerative practices.

Additionally, Doug has been extending his selection to liquor as well. He has all sorts of spirits he sells that he can also tell you lots about.

Doug also offers a really well priced quarterly wine club. For $150, you get 6 bottles of wine he doesn't sell in the store that he selected special for the wine club. He provides tasting notes and pairing suggestions to go along with it.

Highly recommend this place.

This is the sort of local wine store where the owner, Doug, knows your favorite wine and saves the last bottle of it in the back knowing that you'll be stopping by soon. I appreciate the amazing selection, the wine tastings, and the personalized gift and pairing recommendations provided by the owners. This wonderful little shop is a Lafayette treasure!

We LOVE Public Wine! Doug & Genae are so kind and knowledgeable about wine and have an incredible selection of off the beaten path wines for any budget. They also have some fun selections aside from wine. We got an INCREDIBLE vermouth per Doug’s recommendation. They do free wine tastings on Thursdays that bring the whole community together too! If you’re looking for a bottle for dinners, date nights, rose all days, or just for fun, you absolutely have to swing by Public Wine!!

We love this small local wine shop. Came in during one of their Thursday tastings (which are free!) and they have a great shop. Had a chance to meet Doug and Genae and their little pup Stevie, such great people. Doug did all of the wood working in the shop on his own and both are very very informative on all things wine!

Best wine store ever!! Doug, the owner is very knowledgeable about wines, and he consistently makes wonderful recommendations. If you like good quality wine, but prefer not to pay big prices, then Public Wine is the spot!!

My husband and I popped in on our walk the other day and expected to just browse and take note for future special occasions. I was shocked and thrilled to learn that there are tons of options under $20, which meant we got to take some home that day! Doug is clearly very knowledgeable and I love that there are so many wines from smaller producers (with really lovely designs and clever names) that allow for trying all sorts of things I've never heard of and plenty of options from regions I've adored but don't often get to enjoy. It really feels like there's something for everyone, offering very accessible options as well as high end. Doug gave us so many wonderful recommendations that I can't wait to try - our first bottle was delicious. We're so excited to have such an asset added to our community - it's clear it's a perfect fit.
