Snow Companies reached out to me to participate in a patient advocacy event that was scheduled for several weeks out. There were several red flags, notably -

After weeks of no movement, they said the contract was delayed, and they wanted me to commit to scheduling travel to another state before giving me the contract and officially confirming the amount they would pay me. Naturally, I declined.

They finally gave me the contract just three days before the travel date, and it only noted a maximum amount of money I would make from the project. There was no minimum commitment for the amount of pay or number of hours, so they could cancel the event when I arrived or decide to only pay me for one hour of work. I explained this and informed them that I could not commit to the 2-3 day trip without a firm or minimum pay commitment in the contract. This is incredibly standard, and it should never need to be asked for. They eventually modified the contract to essentially repeat their own wording and ignored my request.

I contacted them again offering different solutions, but they failed to respond timely. The day before the scheduled travel date arrived, and I told them that it was no longer possible for me to attend.

To other patient advocates - be very weary. I spent far too much time on this because I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

To pharmesutical companies looking for companies to arrange these types of events - I have never experienced such a disrespectful use of my time as a patient advocate. There are much better companies out there that are more respectful.

Update: noting Snow’s reply - 1. Contracts should ALWAYS have a firm or minimum pay commitment. That is a main purpose of the contract and protects the parties. The contract demonstrated that they were not interested in protecting the patient advocates they recruited for this project.

2. They did not reach out by phone to help solve the matter. They only called after I told them their actions made it impossible for this arrangement to move forward, and that was the day before the travel date. Their text to me after the call confirmed that they were not calling with the intention to resolve the issue.

3. Knowing this was exceptionally time sensitive, they wasted a day going back and forth on this instead of listening to me. Only after my third email expressing this concern did they submit a request to modify the contract, and of course the modification did nothing to address my concern.

I am no stranger to panels, focus groups and heath-related speaking events, and never have I received a contract like this nor has my time been so disrespected. I am passionate about my communities, but I will not be taken advantage of and give more of my time to companies who do this and claim to care about patient voices.

I recently applied for a remote position, while attempting to schedule an interview I was asked if I was fully vaccinated against Covid, I advised due to my autoimmune disease my doctor had strongly advised against it and the vaccine was detrimental my health. I received an email back that I was no longer be considered for employment or an interview because of this. I am honestly appalled that this company is going against federal guidelines and discriminating against people due to their medical conditions.

The best company I have ever had the pleasure of working with as a vendor and eventually to work for as an employee. Amazing staff, driven leadership, and a wonderful company mission. You can't ask for much better.

Former employee- too many "supervisors" that are not even familiar with healthcare. Micromanaging was torturous to the point I would receive MULTIPLE fake calls from supervisors pretending to be real callers. I felt they were borderline harrassing me by calling so many times to see if I had any noise in the background. The schedule was always inconsistent. If you are a REAL clinician with a state license, do not waste your time.

Discriminates against applicants for not getting the "vaccine." Disgusting, cannot support.
