It's disappointing that California residents can't apply for a library card here at this location. Besides that, it's a great, peaceful atmosphere. i had a fascinating conversation with someone about the history of this specific location.

Another bone to pick: the cost to print is ridiculously high, even for black and white. And to retrieve printed materials, a staff member has to bring them to you. Consider automated, private, self-service printing (at a reasonable 10¢ - 25¢).

Nice little library, but the front desk attendants are A+ A-holes. Rude and unhelpful. A couple came in asking for local information and they were very short with them. Then they asked me to leave after one hour. I was just sitting in a corner quietly working on my computer. They cited Covid restrictions. Mask mandates have been dropped so why does the library have a time limit to be in it? I’d go somewhere else if I were you.

I visited the library with my mom and sister-in-law. We needed a quiet space to study and respond to emails. Unfortunately, it was not a welcoming environment. It was our first time here and we were instantly looked at up and down. Every question we asked was answered with sarcasm. As we were signing in, we were told to not talk loud (which is obvious, it's a library). The two older people at the reception desk must not like their job or just certain people. Another group of people walked in about 30 minutes later and they were greeted immediately and were even offered brochures. It was such a disappointment.

P.S. there are hardly any books or tables with nearby outlets to charge devices.

*it would be A LOT better if they were nice to EVERYONE

We went in on a search for public bathrooms (they are across the street in an alley by H&M), but instead got really helpful tips and a map for our trip to Joshua Tree. We would have seen way fewer cool parts of the National Park without Paul’s help!
